About Us

The Neurosensory Disorders Center at the UC Neuroscience Institute (UCNI) treats a wide range of disorders and diseases that affect proper functioning of the ear, nose, throat, sinuses and facial nerves. Specifically, our center treats hearing disorders, voice and swallowing disorders, taste and smell disorders, adult airway disorders, facial pain, complex allergy and sinus disorders, balance disorders and head and neck cancers.

UCNI’s otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat specialists) use the most technologically advanced diagnostics and treatments when confronting these often debilitating conditions. While many neurosensory disorders require lifestyle changes, such as smoking cessation, to dramatically improve the function of the senses involved, others involve collaborative medical management or surgical intervention.

ENT surgeons at UCNI are skilled in the surgical treatment of neurosensory disorders and work closely with colleagues in neurosurgery. Many surgical procedures that we perform will involve both an otolaryngologist and a neurosurgeon. Our neurosurgeons are also internationally recognized for their work in the research and treatment of facial pain.
